AQUA BARE is a US based company that specializes in water filtration systems. The goal of Aqua Bare is to provide high-quality, long lasting products that will make an impact on your health and well being while being environmentally conscious. Plastic bottles are a major contributor to the accumulation of waste in landfills. In 2020, people consumed 50 billion water bottles, 90% of which were not recycled – meaning 45 billion plastic water bottles were discarded into the environment. With this in mind, Aqua Bare has made it our mission to provide people with a healthy alternative for drinking water while also reducing the number of plastic bottles found in landfills. We want you to live life without worry for your health or the planet we’re impacting for generations to come!
Why We Do It
We grew up drinking out of the hose on a hot day, and never thought twice about the safety of the water coming out of our kitchen sink’s faucet. Along came bottled water, and we remember thinking why would you buy something that flows freely, basically for free? It became a billion dollar industry quickly and we thought “maybe there’s something to fresh, clean, spring water.” Yes, we fell into the hype, at least when it was more convenient than finding “free water.” But we always felt guilty about all of the waste. After all, bottled water companies do not produce water, they produce plastic bottles! So what happens to all of those empty water bottles? 60 million plastic bottles end up in landfills every single day, and Americans put more than 38 billion water bottles in landfills every year. Each of those bottles takes 450-1,000 years to biodegrade! Ughhh…..there has to be a better way!
Along came Flint, Michigan
How could this happen in the United States of America? Doesn’t the government regulate the water we drink? I’ve been drinking their water my whole life! What’s in the water I currently drink? What contaminants are lingering in my body from the water I’ve consumed over my lifetime? What health implications will I suffer from drinking tap water? What about our kids? Our pets?
Nearly 25% of Americans get their drinking water from systems that violate the Safe Drinking Water Act. Violations range from insufficient water testing to allowing high levels of lead, nitrates, arsenic, and other pollutants into the main water lines. Recent testing has identified 267 contaminants in U.S. drinking water, including: lead, chlorine, chloramines, ammonia, arsenic, mercury, fluoride, uranium, pharmaceuticals, herbicides, pesticides, microorganisms, and even wastewater! And the effects of them on our health are astounding: 93 are linked to an increased risk of cancer,
78 are associated with brain and nervous system damage, 63 are connected to developmental harm to children or fetuses, 38 that may cause fertility problems, 45 linked to hormonal disruption, and the list goes on….
OK, NOW WHAT?
First of all, no more drinking tap water, EVER! But bottled water is creating a global problem much bigger than us, affecting our planet’s future in a huge way.
We tried a few readily available options and decided that we could create a better solution. After much research, we’re proud of AQUA BARE’s contribution to both people and Mother Earth! Each pair of replacement filters clean 6,000 gallons of fresh water. That’s the equivalent of 48,000 16oz bottles of water!
